Beebe Fired as Big 12 Commish

According to numerous media reports, Big 12 Commissioner Dan Beebe will be fired on Thursday and will be replaced by noted college consultant Chuck Neinas.

Beebe had been blasted by numerous Big 12 members for allowing Texas to run roughshod over the rest of the conference. He handled the Nebraska departure very poorly in the summer of 2010, allowing the Huskers to bolt to the Big Ten, and has always appeared to be nothing but a puppet to the interests of the Texas Longhorns.

On MondayUniversity of Oklahoma President David Boren publically called for Beebe’s outster if OU was to stay in the conference. And now with OU apparently staying, Beebe is on his way out.

The incredible lack of leadership from Beebe was astounding. We’ve heard precious little from him since Big 12 media days, and doubt we will hear much more from him in the future.
