Big 12 Will Add Teams, But Who?

With the Big 12 hiring new Bob Bowlsby last week, speculation has ramped up on who the conference might add on for the 2013 football season.

Despite what he might say, Bowlsby and the conference will add teams, as with the new ESPN and Fox TV deals there is a financial incetive to not only add TV markets, but to get back to at least twelve teams and a conference title game to add even more TV revenue…not to mention the new BCS will virtually demand it.

The one team that has pretty much been a done deal to move conferences is Louisville, and that has never waned. When WVU leapfrogged the Cardinals last fall to jump from the Big East to the Big 12, UL was given a promise that they’d be next…which is why Sen. Mitch McConnell didn’t make such a public fuss, despite being out front lobbying for Louisville prior to the decision.

Who will join UL for the first two of possibly more teams to leave a BCS conference for the Big 12?

As of today it appears more likley it could be Florida State, and the Seminoles want out of the ACC so badly they can taste it…and they aren’t the only ACC school to want out, as the basketball oriented conference could lose Clemson and Virginia Tech as well to either the SEC, Big 12 or Big Ten. The biggest problem the conference faces is that it is extremely basketball heavy in a world that is all about football TV dollars.

As of today the top two picks from the crystal ball (no pun intended) would be Louisville and Florida State, but these things change rapidly…we’ll keep you advised on the site and on the Greg Swaim Show.

Are you nuts? The Seminoles don’t want to leave the ACC. Neither does Virginia Tech or anyone else in the ACC. This is why newspapers will continue, because people like you will just make things up randomly.

The Big 12 can’t afford to be picky. They only have two options…and neither are in the ACC.
