How Could Trojans Could Win it All?
There are a handful of teams around the country that have a chance to get to the BCS Championship game in Miami on February 7th and USC is certainly one of them. You have to look no forther than their quarterback Matt Barkely turning down NFL millions, because he knew the Tojans would have a legitimate shot at the title.
Schedule will have a lot to do with it, and of course a little luck, but USC is in a Pac 12 Conference that will be down as Stanford will drop back to reality. Realistically the Trojans need to circle one game on their calendar with the Oregon Ducks coming to Los Angeles on November 3rd, and possibly even Notre Dame on November 24th, but there aren’t too many other games you look at on the schedule that you see much of a challenge.
Will Alabama, LSU and Oklahoma have a tougher strength of schedule? Yes they will, but that also means a greater chance of losing.
Perhaps an undefeated Big Ten team could pass them as well, but who in that conference will go undefeated? Your guess is as good as mine.
In fact the winner of the USC-Oregon game, if undefeated, could find themselves in Miami with one of the above mentioned teams.
The Trojans are very talented, but key injuries (as with any team) could change things in a hurry, as the NCAA did a number on their lack of depth with scholarship limits.
Yes, the USC Trojans bear watching this season as a national contender.
