The Missing Element- There is No Magic or Mystery to the success of TyMagic Robinson & Mister Alexander.
History waits for no man, just like not every man is not available when history comes calling. Looking back to 2006 the 6-2 190lb Houston area safety Mister Alexander had virtually no clue on how to prepare himself for the daily rigors of navigating college football, let alone what steps to take in order to live out an NFL fantasy. Around the same time, in the same area TyMagic Robinson was a blossoming athlete himself, he always knew he had certified NCAA level speed with an NFL work ethic far before he ever started running a 6.78 60M dash or a 22 second 200M sprint against the likes of Texas A&M, LSU & Houston whilst at San Houston State. Once TyMagic figured out the physical science behind successful training & preparation he instinctually knew that teaching this secret recipe to young men would allow him to offer the one thing he didn’t always have – access to the tools that could unlock greatness in others at a much younger age than he received. Mister Alexander took a different path, you could call it a leap of faith in choosing the Florida State Seminoles in Tallahassee FL. Leaving his TX roots behind to become so immersed in any/all of the developmental aspects FSU could offer. It’s safe to say, mission accomplished! After dominating in the weight room this 190lb Safety turned into a 252lb relentless LB/DE with safety level hips, hands & speed. Achieving his NFL dreams and having success with the Houston Texans, Dallas Cowboys & Jacksonville Jaguars allowed him to reflect on how he could continue to channel his new found passion for reaching optimal physical performance into an ability to give back to the game that gave him so much, in an area that means so much too him. Developing athletes by teaching the fundamentals & techniques that helped him achieve the highest levels of all athletic endeavors was the next logical choice. It was immediately evident that his new Missing Element development & training operation would be both extremely beneficial and successful, but there was always an element missing for him to be able to maximize his reach and have the desired effect on the community. He knew what direction he needed to explore & TyMagic felt it in his soul that he too was missing something. This was the connection that encapsulated what he was trying to showcase.
High School 7v7 has absolutely exploded over the recent years, so much in fact that the dreaded “AAU basketball” negative connotations have unfortunately already seeped into the arena. It’s not exactly “out of control” per say quite yet, but without guy’s like Mister & TyMagic coming on the scene to do it the right way, we could be starring down the barrel of an uncomfortable situation becoming more & more diluted than it already is. That should invoke fear in every HS athlete or parent in America. If it doesn’t get course corrected it eventually becomes completely unrecognizable and 100% unmanageable. Without these rare teachers of the game and how to get the most out of it by helping to combine training, film & practical applications in conjunction with other phenomenal organizations like Prospect Sports, FlexZone1on1, EndZone 7on7. They are all simultaneously trying to promote 7v7 with the same morals, integrity & character required to ensure that the best is still yet to come. Getting exposure and getting the right tools to help allow exposure to morph into a beneficial recruiting explosion are two entirely different things. Don’t get fooled by the head hunter coaches that are not invested for the right reasons, (inserts megaphone) if they aren’t in it for the right reasons then they will never be truly invested at all in the product they produce…. Or hold back. The only element that seems to be missing from the 7on7 scene in the Houston TX area is more men like TyMagic Robinson & Mister Alexander. The only thing keeping HS & college interested in 7v7 at this very moment is the fact that some coaches & organizations like these gentleman are still providing the right pieces, the right players and the right elements that are increasingly found missing in today’s ‘get rich quick’ society. This is become so blatantly evident as I travel the country covering more & more HS events. THIS is the necessary foundation in order to get the 7v7 circuit back on track. These are the facts. THESE consummate professionals are the Missing Element to restoring the sanctity of what football development & 7v7 could be, should be, what it’s supposed to be.
